Stormy Kitchen

This stunning home sits in the picturesque town of Kettering a few minutes drive south of Hobart.

This beautiful kitchen overlooks the bay and owners Richard and Shona show an obvious love of the water. Their house has been recently extended to include a beautiful new kitchen provided by the Kingston Kitchen Centre. Each feature has been carefully thought out to provide maximum storage and functionality for the space. Richard & Shona were adamant that their new kitchen had to blend in with the existing house by keeping the existing pantry cabinetry flush with the rest of the kitchen with a streamline handless look.

Colour was an important choice for both Shona and Richard given that there is so much natural light coming through the huge glass windows to admire the spectacular view. Light coloured cabinetry wouldn’t work and would reflect too much glare in the space. The ideal choice for the cabinetry doors was Polytec’s Cinder colour a beautiful rich grey with a venette finish. The idea behind the design was that all the cabinetry would sit flush and streamline, hence there are no handles on the cabinetry with only a push motion to open and close the cabinetry. In the past, it has been difficult to find dark coloured cabinetry in a matte finish that doesn’t mark easily with finger prints, thankfully this new material from Polytec is able to remedy this problem. There are many other beautiful elements about this kitchen including the interior of the cabinetry in vertiboard in the colour Storm. This beautiful dark interior is almost a perfect match to the exterior of the cabinetry. All the door hinges are Blum soft close on all cabinetry. An additional kitchen feature is the spice rack also featuring in the Storm colour to match the interior of the drawer. He kitchen also features the built in waste bins and the stunning Aventos HK-s lift up cupboard. This cabinetry compliments the massive piece of stone supplied by Richard and Shona for the bench top which is a beautiful white with stunning marble patterns which has travelled from Brazil. This stunning kitchen was designed by Scott Quinn at the Kingston Kitchen Centre and demonstrates excellent design features, functionality and proportion to the space to combine modern kitchen elements with the stunning views of the water.
